Ok if your reading this thanks for taking the time to help a newbie. So here’s my situation for
1095 $ I could get a 2002 ninja 250 cc with 8000 miles on it
or
for 550$ I could get a lifan galata 200 cc which is a lesser known maufacurer
the ninja kellyblue book value is 1490
and the other bike kellyblue books for 1200
so what would you do? Is it worth paying double for the ninja or shoulda I go for the cheap one below I listed the links to the bikes I have 2 days to figure this out any n all feedback welcome

If you just want a toy to play with then maybe the Lifan is a decent deal if it runs well. But if you want to use the bike then the Ninja is less likely to disappoint.

Ima get the ninja in a few days more updates/ questions to come thanks to the postersApril 21, 2010 at 4:34 pm #25890AParticipantAs a “do-it-myself” kinda person, I have no fear of looking into Chinese bikes.
My 250cc chinese scooter is likely the best $1699 I’ve spent on a two-wheel vehicle, over 12,000 km since 2008 without any mechanical issues (only a couple of flat tires), it gets well over 80 mpg, $35 to insure for the whole year.
The Chinese brands have come a long way, Lifan is a good brand.April 28, 2010 at 9:08 pm #26033Jeff in KentuckyParticipantA guy at work has one of these Lifan bikes. Lifan got the plans from Honda, so it is an almost exact copy of a 1980s 250cc Honda dirt bike with a newer suspension, and they make a sportbike fairing version. He has had his for about four years with no problems, except some extra work getting a title for it.
For the Niagara Falls area, Steve Leigh at Hardlydangerous Motorsports spends some of his time building motocross race bikes, but most of his time selling and maintaining low cost Chinese bikes, after he goes over them to improve the wiring and any other defects. His phone number in Canada is 905-228-3167. Most of the Chinese bikes are shipped to the Pacific coast, then trucked from there.
