Need help again – about carburetors

    Hi there guys,
Since everyone was so helpful and friendly last time, I thought I’d check again before I make a bad decision.

I found a Buell Blast in my area that I am interested in and the guy is willing to let it go for a seemingly good price (2001 for $1200). I will have a friend with me that is significantly more knowledgeable (not that it takes a rocket-scientist to be that).

The guy mentioned that the carburetor is in need for adjustment, but that is just about the only thing that needs to be looked at. Since I don’t know a lot about carburetors, what is it that’s likely to be wrong with it and how much does these adjustments cost?

I understand that it’s almost impossible to give an accurate answer; but to the best of your abilities, any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

But I’d interpret that as “carb needs a rejet.” If that’s the case, I’d just get a jet kit for the damn thing for around $80-90. It’s a fairly straightforward DIY install, but if you decided to get it installed by a shop that’ll be another hour or two of labor costs.

Definitely hard to say for sure. Not to mention the labor rates are different in various areas. If all you need is a good cleaning and air/fuel adjustments then it shouldn’t be to bad. If your needing to get it re jetted for what ever reason the price will go up. Again that all depends on your skill level or if it exists.
Make sure to check the fuel lines and everything for good volume. Not to be confused with pressure. You can have pressure and not volume.
If it’s been sitting up for a long time I would get it professionally checked.
