I live in Washington, DC. I found a couple selling A 2008 NEW BODY STYLE 250 R NINJA KAWASAKI GREEN 5100 MILES WITH A JARDINE EXHAUST. It’s garage kept and they are purchasing a new home. I won’t be able to purchase it until Spring at the earliest(which is also when I’ll hopefully be taking my MSF basic rider course). Does this sound like a good beginner deal. I believe it’s $3000 and has a clean title. Thanks.

If you like the bike, go for it, $3000 isn’t too high of a price, considering the mileage and exhust.

Carb. version of the Ninja 250 could be found at well below that price range and just as reliable.

Maybe you can make a deal with the sellers to hang onto it ’til spring, but that’s asking a lot. $3K isn’t bad for that bike, but expecting it to still be around come spring… well, good luck.

Off season (now – late fall and winter) is when you can usually get the best bargain. Come spring and the beginning of a new riding reason there will be more buyers and the prices will go up.

All Ninja 250 in the US, including the redesigned version on 2008, uses carburetors.

Thanks. I’m pretty sure I want the Ninja 250 (2008 or later) since I don’t want to get anything too powerful. I learned to drive stick on a mazda miata…now I’m comfortable driving a Z-06 Corvette…and it didn’t happen overnight. So I’ll take the same approach with the bikes. I’ve contacted the couple and they said that as long as it’s available then I’m on the top of the list. So hopefully I’ll know about a pretty decent job before the end of this coming week.

if EVERYTHING goes well I MAY be able to purchase it now…I’d store it at my cousin’s until I took the course though.

Thanks everyone who replied to this.

I’m in the same camp. I did my first automotive track day in an ol’ VW Jetta, but now, like you say, I’m perfectly happy in an Evo or S4. I started my riding career on a Ninja 250, and it was a great learning experience for me. You’ll love it!

I don’t think that bike will still be around in Spring, but something similar will. Best of luck to you!

Hope it all works out for you, just watch out for that crazy dc traffic :)
