Just sharing on why a full faced helmet might be a good idea. My girlfriend who’s been riding for 10 years (she has a Harley) got hit by a left hand turning pick up truck. She went through the passenger side window head first, then bounced back out onto the road and her bike landed on her. She doesn’t remember any of it but she has a cut up face, broken hip, two broken bones in one arm and some other stuff I can’t remember. She will be ok but geez. She will need surgeries for the cuts on her face. Makes me feel a little scared all over again. She was wearing a helmet that just covers your head, no shield.

I never want to wear anything less than full-face.
All the best to her!

I wish her the best in her recovery.

Some years ago my brother was involved in a head on collision where he ended up underneath a van. When the medics arrived on the scene they were convinced he was dead. He escaped with just a shattered ankle and shin. Although serious (one leg is now shorter than the other) he could easily have died that night.
Incidents like these remind us to keep on our toes.

Hope she’s back on her feet soon. She’ll have a story to tell…much better than having stories told about you afterward.

It doesn;t just scare one to be riding…but it would scare anyone to have someone special in a wreck of any sort. Good luck to the both of you, and pray for a quick recovery. This is why when I first get a bike, I’m riding on roads I know are sparse of traffic until I get my confidence up.
And everyone I’ve talked to has told me to wear a full face….now I know I will!
