I wasn’t even in the country (I was on a trip to Canada), and my bike’s kickstand broke through the asphalt at my house and it fell over onto its left side. No damage except for a dent in the gas tank from the fence that it was next to. I was bringing it in for the 600 mile service today anyway, so I got them to give it a once over to make sure nothing else bad happened. They said my only option for the gas tank was to replace it (they won’t pop the dent out, and it would risk cracking the paint if they did), so we’ll see about that. I got some clear touch-up paint to cover over the little cracks in the paint at the edge of the dent, so I’ll be ok.
I’m definitely glad I got those frame sliders though, or else the left fairing might have been cracked too. I’ll definitely be using my kickstand puck (junction box cover) all the time from now on.

Tiny little scratch on the crankcase, and a scuff on the outside edge of the left mirror, so I got lucky. 3500 miles later, I haven’t had a mishap since (or should I say–yet?)…

That’s why I use the centerstand 99% of the time I’m parked. I honestly would find a bike without a centerstand less desirable.
