Running fine this morning, then on my way home she’s backfiring a lot and died on idle. I got her started again a couple times and slowly got back home. The throttle stops working after about a mile and I have to pull over again to let it die out. I got a hold of my mechanic at least so I’ll have him take a look and see what’s what but now I’m caged. Ouch! Sorry to hear that. The 500 did something like that and it ended up being a pinched fuel line due to mis routed vacuum lines… had to be under specific conditions to make it happen. Hopefully yours is something that simple.

Is the gas tank vent clogged?

No Idea, I’m a complete dummy with engines. My mechanic said it might just be a clog somewhere. It’s not fuel injected or anything fancy due to its age, so I don’t know about it being a pinched fuel line or something like that. I’ll just have to wait and see. =/

I got it back this weekend. After waiting a couple weeks for the mechanic to actually get to mine, he discovered is was the vaccum hose for the petcock, got it replaced and clamped this time and she ran fine again. I went riding all after noon yesterday and the sunrise this morning was outstanding. ^_^

Me too, really wish I knew at least some basics of motorcycle engines so I could fix little stuff like that. =/
