I like to fool around with graphic design sometimes (I’m no good at it, but I like it). What’s missing is good clip art of motorcycles. So I thought I’d create some.

It’s my 96 magna. If you like fooling around with design you can get it as vector graphics from http://openclipart.org/media/files/ClayDowling/10842

I was going to try to do this with your photos, but I found a studio shot online that was a lot easier to work with.

Drag bars, cast wheels and a peanut tank — brings back memories.

The Sporty isn’t the only one with a tiny tank. The tank on the Magna looks big, but you loose most of that space to the air cleaner. You can go about 120 miles before you switch to reserve. For a long trip, that’s no big deal, you’re desperate to extract your butt from the uncomfortable stock seat anyway. But for the daily commute it’s kind of a pain, because any side trip at all means I have to get gas somewhere if I want to make it home.

…Still, I don’t think I ever went 100 miles before I had to pull in for gas. But that was never a problem on two counts — 1. I was on an island where you couldn’t ride 250 miles without starting over; 2. The frequent gas stops gave you a chance to shake out your arms and get the feeling back.

My current bike (Concours) is awesome for commuting. Tank holds 7.5 gallons and it gets close to 40 mpg. With a range of nearly 300 miles, I get at least three days of commuting before I have to visit the pump! The downside is that lanesplitting is seriously hampered, especially with rear cases.
