This morning on the way to work my odometer rolled past the ten thousand mile mark. First motorcycle ever and 10,000 miles in 13 months. Am I not considered a beginner now? I still have what is considered a beginner bike, Vulcan 500.

Please share what stage you are at in your riding career, things like; how long riding, what bike or bikes, and how many miles under your belt.

Just put the first 9 miles on my bike last night. I wouldn’t mind driving my bike to work once in a while once I get more comfortable since I put 30k/yr on my car.

So far I got 50 miles on my 650R. Hopefully sooner than later, I will get comfortable enough to ride it to work.

    Congrats on the 10K mark!

4200 miles under my belt, still on my first bike which is a Suzuki SAVAGE LS650 2003, been riding since last Labor Day weekend. Have been sitting on a lot of bikes trying to see if there is anything I like better than the Triumph Bonneville SE, so far, nothing. Have to buy the hubby a camping van before I can get a new bike so that’s fine because the longer I stay on my current bike the better I think.

For 8 months of riding on my 2006 Buell Blast, I just recently turned 1000 miles. I take public transportation to work, etc. so she’s just a weekend toy.

12 months as of last Monday and 8500 miles. No commuting for me, all fun miles on my Piaggio MP3 500. While I would say I am past the beginner stage I will never be past the learner stage.

10 months as of last Sunday and 9200 miles. I commute with mine and try to ride it any chance I get. About 4,000 of those miles were on my Blast; the rest, on my C50 Boulevard. Still a beginner in many ways, including leaving my key in the ignition at work yesterday. Doh!

20 K since april of last year… about 2k of those miles are track miles. All miles on my bikes are fun miles since even mundane commuting is better on a motorcycle. :-P

4,800 on the Vulcan in the 7 months since I bought it (Jan. 9). 2,100 on the Rebel in the 4 months before that learning how to ride all over again, after 30 years away.

Agree with eon above. Maybe not a “beginner”, but still a “learner”!

I’ve had my Suzuki GS500F for 2 months now, and I’ve added almost 1,000 miles on it. I wish it could be more, but I’ve been away from home 2 weeks of that time, and I’ve got a family of 4 to transport most places, which requires taking the cage. I haven’t been on any group rides yet, but I’m trying to organize one for this fall with two of my friends.
Although each ride feels more confident and comfortable, I’m still very much a beginner. I’ve ridden to work in Columbus a few times, and I’ve had several short trips into Johnstown, but no major long trips yet.
