Got some new stuff for my bike for Xmas.. Added a windshield, saddle bags and a sissy bar.. Much better on my long cruises now.. Plus I’ve just broken 2k miles on it… Rode 2up with my ge up the coast on a ride with my local Star Club.. Also did a 3-hole mod on the pipes.. Definitely louder but still sounding rather tinny.. Going to try drilling them out some more and if that doesn’t work then I’ll just have to bite the bullet and buy some better pipes..

Hard to get a good picture with chrome flashing everywhere aint it :^)*****************************************************************************************
Common sense exists!!! Problem is -if the ones around me are setting the bar

Doesn’t block the wind as much as I thought it would.. But it definitely helps.. I’m not being pounded in the chest as much as I was..
As for the chrome.. That’s the price we have to pay I suppose..
I just want to make it out of this life alive…

How did you do the 3 hole mod. Did you just drill em in on exhaust? I am trying to save up for the V&H Cruzers….but I might do the 3 hole mod in the mean time.
What kind of drill bit did you use?
January 7, 2009 at 1:07 am #15563DaggerParticipantI got most of my info off of the 650 VStar C,C & D Forum..
I started with an 1/8″ drill bit then worked my way up to 3/8″.. Getting the holes started on the sloped back cover of the exhausts was a bit tricky but not too bad.. They have another mod on the sight as well to go a step further.. But I may just add three more holes to them and see if that gives me a little more base to the pipes rather than the normal tinny sound.
