ParticipantI was just wondering if anybody has watched this documentary? It’s about Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman and in each series, they ride from point A to B. In LWR, they rode from London all the way to New York City; with LWD, they had rode from Scotland to Cape Town in South Africa.
All pretty interesting; DVDs are out for both of them so if you’re interested, you should definitely check them out.
Also, have any of you ever considered doing a long motorcycle trip? Of course, not to an extent like them, but something that would take more than a week?

ParticipantI’ve watched the long way round and I absolutely loved it! It really made me want a BMW thats for sure. The funny thing is that KLR wouldn’t sponsor them because they didn’t think they would make it, but now BMW has a great advertising tool.
I can’t wait to watch the long way down

ParticipantIf you liked Long Way Around and the later Long Way Down, you might also enjoy Race To Dakar. It’s only Charlie Boorman this time around with some buddies of his, although McGregor drops in occasionally but only as an spectator of the race.
Must say these are wonderful films, and they’ve given me much inspiration doing some more adventures touring in the future. I might even want to sign up for the Dakar some day.

ParticipantCool; it’s nice to know there are other people who have enjoyed this as well.
And yes, it’s now all game for BMW motorcycles now. I’ve heard sales in the motorcycle they used in LWD had increased and now it’s pretty popular right now.
Oh, and Race to Dakar is great as well. It’s all pretty cool and it’s pretty frantic compared to the Long Way Round/Down series.
Perhaps I will go on a motorcycle trip on my own some day because it looks like a great way to see the sights of different countries.
