For those of you who have covers for you bike, do you lock the cover? I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to lock it the cover. My cover has two grommets near the elastic that end up on either side of the bike, about level with the seat, once I put the cover on. I have a cable lock that’s about 6 feet long. The purpose of the lock is obviously to make it difficult for people to get the cover off the bike, but I haven’t been able to figure out how to run the cable so that you can’t lift the cover up.
I’m thinking if I just loop the cable through the grommets several times, running under the bike, it should work. Is there an obvious way to lock it that I’m missing? What do you do?

Unless that thing is hard plastic locking the cover is like locking the door on a Jeep Wrangler. Serves absolutely no point. Any asshole with a pocket knife (and bet if they are planning to take your bike it will be close at hand) will render the locked cover useless. IF your using it to just keep the wind from blowing it up…bungey cords work wonders.

It’s more to keep the neighbor’s kids from coming over to check out the bike and taking the cover off of it (or something like that). Easy to defeat, but a minor inconvenience can go a long way against those who aren’t there with thieving in mind.

I understand the concept but vehicle covers just aren’t practical, they scratch the paint and are a royal pain in the ass to put on and take off IMO. I say scrap the whole idea, let the kids drool at the bike without a cover! Otherwise, do whatever helps you sleep easy. I’ve been there, and I totally understand your perspective, but in the long run, I think that you will find it’s useless. But, lock that cover on their until you get sick of it! They ARE great for providing that minor inconvenience you were talking about.
