Don’t know if this is old news to you guys or not as I haven’t been on here for a while.

Anyway, the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) recently announced that if you sign up for automatic renewal of annual dues ($39/year), you’ll get *free* roadside assistance for *all* of your vehicles (not just motorycles). This includes towing anywhere up to 35 miles (any further and you pay the difference). This used to be a seperate $50-$60 annual subscription, so is a great benefit.

So! You get to help yourself and your fellow riders by fighting anti-motorcycle legislation, get the AMA free magazine (so-so), get free roadside assistance for all your vehicles, and all for $39 a year!

You might argue that you get roadside assistance for $10/year (per vehicle) through your insurance company, but when I used that late on one cold and windy Friday night, all they would do was pay to tow the bike the 7 miles to the nearest dealer, which was of course closed by that time and in a very sleazy and dangerous part of San Francisco. No way was I going to leave my bike there overnight. The AMA roadside assistance would have towed my bike all the way home (as they subsequently have).
