For those of you who aren’t aware, Joe Rocket came out with an all hemp riding jacket this year. It follows the same construction style as typical textile jackets, but rather than being made out of ballistic grade nylon or mesh, the outer shell is constructed entirely of hemp. Their claims are that because of the extremely high tensile strength of hemp, a hemp jacket can provide the same degree of protection as a full leather jacket for a fraction of the price.

I was getting interested in the jacket, until I read the caution at the end of the Product Details.

“Caution: Do not smoke the jacket!”

Why should the warning ward you away from the jacket? I think it’s sharp looking, and if the claims of its durability and protection rating are true (on par with or just under leather?), then I’m all for it. There are people that stupid in this world, LOL.
