Hi there everyone… long time no type.
So, my Ninja is back from the garage after my accident with a jeep… it’s looking lovely, and yesterday I went to the doctors and was given the green light to start riding again.
Now, I have around 5 weeks holiday saved up from last year, and am longing to get back on the Chilean roads and head out of Santiago.. but I need a little help with shopping.
I need to carry clothes, and a few other things. Remember that my ninja is the 250 model. Should I be looking at a magnetic tank bag? If so, has anyone tried them, are they any good? Do the damn things fall off at 100mph? I still have one of my ribs cracked from the fall I took, so I will be taking a rucksack, but I can’t carry so much for long periods, the idea is I split the load with a tank bag, or saddle, or whatever. Do they even MAKE tank bags for the 250?
I also am looking into some ninja jeans with riding protection. Remember that in Chile, we don’t get all the best stuff, and if we do… it is at a price.
I found this on a Chilean store, and wanted to ask if anyone had used them before, and if anyone had any thoughts or comments. They look real nice, and you can hardly notice the protection in them. Here is a link.

Anyway, let me know people.
Best way to travel stuff on the ninja 250… and some nice jeans with protection.

I used to wear a similar sort (Cortec’s riding jeans), but stopped because they were too loose for my taste. I kept wondereding if the armor and inner protection (the Shift pants have Kevlar, my Cortecs had perforated leather paneling) would stay put in an accident.
I’ve since gone to overpants that I wear over jeans…sure they look a little more obviously motorcycle, but you can just take them off when not on the bike.

paseo seguroJuly 13, 2010 at 11:55 pm #27492paulurmstonParticipantbut I am think I need more space. IT is going to be around 2 weeks that I am going to be riding, hence the saddle bag with its bigger capacity.
July 13, 2010 at 11:56 pm #27493paulurmstonParticipantI am going to try them out this weekend after I get back from the mountains (sorry, but it IS skiing season here).
I’ll keep in mind the baggy thing, I must admit I hadn’t thought about it.
Thanks again!!!
July 14, 2010 at 1:13 am #27497joshParticipanti have used a magnetic tank bag before, and it is fantastic. plenty of space, and most come with a waterproof rain cover that keeps your stuff dry.
i only had one borrowed for a bit, so i do not remember the brand.. but i’m definitely looking to buy one soon for myself. at high speeds (yes, 100+ mph) i did not feel like it was going to fall off. the windshield on your ninja ought to serve you fine here.
one thing to remember though… it’s a giant magnet! make sure if you travel with a laptop computer or iphone type item, DO NOT put it in the tank bag. you can wipe your hard disk.
July 19, 2010 at 5:34 pm #27589paulurmstonParticipantOh yeah…. good point.
I would DIE if my Macbook got wiped, there is literally years of my life on the damn thing.
Good point… VERY good point!
So, no problems with the thing flying off. And did it scratch the paint job or anything like that?
Let me know… I think I am feeling in the mood for a little shopping tomorrow.
: D

July 21, 2010 at 6:36 pm #27670paulurmstonParticipantYeah, tell me about it.
I have 3 of the damn things. And already 2TB of space isn’t enough.
Anyway, thanks.
