    Hello everyone!

My husband and I are all signed up for our beginners motorcycle course and we’re so excited. He’s not actually a beginner, but I have never driven a bike. The course is taught on motorcycles owned by the school. We’ve been doing some research on what we might like to buy after the course.

I was hoping to get a few opinions on what you would shop for if you were me. I’m a 36 year old female. I’m 5’8″ tall and about 145 lbs. Based on looks, I lean toward sports bikes, but I’m not a daredevil type of personality and I’m definitely a cautious, mature driver. My athletic abilities are probably above average. I like to run and do yoga.

I am certainly not looking for my dream bike, just a good, solid beginner motorcycle that can be enjoyed on the weekends.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Thx!

I would most certainly point you in the direction of a Ninja 500. They usually can be found used. Either the Ninja 250 or 500 would do. The Ninja 250 looks much nicer though since the styling has been redone. Whenever you are ready to trade up, These smaller bikes hold their resale value well since lots of newer riders are looking for the same thing.

    Best of luck……..

I would huck the new Kawasaki Ninja 250. Probably one of the best looking sportbikes out there no matter the engine size. But it will cost you around 4g’s new I think. You might be able to get a 2008 for cheaper though, maybe 2500-3000.

The Buell Blast will give you 500cc, more of a sit up seating and you can buy them all day long (2nd hand) for $1800-2500. When you are done with it, someone out there will be anxious to give you back your purchase price.
