So I have been riding with this STAR group, really nice peeps, good rides and I’m enjoying myself. I needed an oil change and I just mentioned that I was going to take it over to Suzuki and get one on the weekend and they said no, no you call up so and so and he’ll do your oil change for you. So, I called him up and I went over to his house yesterday. He said, I hope they warned you before you came here. I was like, what do you mean? No one warned me about anything. He said I’m not doing your oil change, you are. I said great! So, I did my oil change and filter and then we went over all the moving parts with some chemical to make everything move easy which I can really feel the difference now and the next project is my front break pads. All right bring it on!!!!

You have to understand that I’m not mechanical at all so this was a big deal!

Local shops charge $70-$80 to change the oil, which seems outrageous to me. Motorcycles are a lot easier to do the change on than a car, which goes for half the price. So I change my own. Pretty easy to do.

Hopefully you’ll become much more mechanically inclined as you progress through your bike’s maintenance. It’s easier than you might initially think, and there’s quite a bit of pleasure in being able to take care of your own bike without paying somebody else.
