    Hey guys just ran into the HJC Windlight LED Helmet Light at the newenough site and was wondering if anyone has bought and used this product and whether it is worth it. It’s on clearance on their site $5.99 ($11.65) after s&h and it seems like a great buy specially since all other sites sell them in the $20+ range. Anyways if anyone has had any experience with it drop a line.

    How visible is it? cumbersome? how does it handle in the rain? etc…. Your thoughts greatly appreciated.

    Here’s the link if anyone wants to get one themselves.

    The one with the LED lights built into the the helmet. But this… No batteries to change. Powered by the wind. I like the idea, and had I not gotten a helmet with lights already built in, I would have gotten this wind-powered unit and added it however I could.

    I saw that too a couple months ago when I was trying to bump my order up to the free shipping limit (I think that deal expired at Christmas). It looks interesting, but I was held back by two thoughts:
    1. If it’s powered by wind, it must be creating a drag and I’m not sure I want that on my helmet. I worried about possible wind buffeting that adds up over 2+ hours of riding each day;
    2. If it’s visible only from the rear, is it worth the weight and effort? I’m not much worried about folks behind me, it’s the people in the 10-2 o’clock range that I’m afraid of.
    But it may be pretty cool. If you try it, let us all know what you think.
