I am fairly new to motorcycles. I have always been drawn into motorcycles since i was a kid, and since my uncle had one i was always wanting him to teach me how to ride. Back then it was a 150cc that he taught me how to use. He had around 6 bikes of all power. Now that i am 19 I have been looking to purchase a bike of my own. I have taken a riding class at Harley Davidson, but I just need some help on what type of bike i should buy. Like I said I am 19, about 6’4 230lbs. Anyone got any ideas?

First off what types of bikes are you into? And what type of environment do you live in? Is it rural? Urban? Lots of twisties or mostly straight?

Well I am more into choppers, I am not really a speed bike type of guy. The area that I will mainly use it is big city and for traveling to and from California. I live in Scottsdale so its almost all highway driving I do. I have been looking into what type I want and I have settled for either a 250cc or 500cc, but I don’t really know what style or anything else for that matter, I do know that I will probably have a passenger most of the time so I want a bike that can easily hold up to 500lbs.

Try looking into the Kawasaki Vulcan 500. You should still be able to find some even though they were discontinued last year. Yamaha V-Star 650 and Honda Shadow 750 aren’t bad choices either.

I would look at the 500cc Kawasaki Vulcan, the 750cc Honda Shadow, or the Suzuki M50 or C50.
