ParticipantHey all you motorcycle pros! I just got my endorsement and i really could use some help! Ok i want a good nice bike that has some power to it and be able to go fast but i;m definitely not a wheelie kinda guy or anything like that! So here are my options so far there is a 1993 Yamaha FZR 600 for $1.900 at a dealership, a 2003 Buell Blast 40 min away for $1,500, and finally the 1988 Honda VTR 250 ( it has a pink, white and teal body. Horribly ugly if u ask me)
here is the link to the honda– http://www.judsoncyclesales.com/id33.html
The yamaha– http://www.peakmph.com/motorcycles_3.html?frm_data1=14&frm_data1_type=large
Then of course the Buell Blast– http://mankato.craigslist.org/mcy/1873706917.htmlMy budget is limited to $1500 cash and i plan on asking the dealerships to lower there price if i pay up front in cash.

ParticipantWelcome here. The FZR 600 is more of a second bike, and the other two are first bikes. I would take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation beginner course first, then you will have a better idea of what bike is best for you, both for styling and the amount of power.
If you get the Honda cheap enough, you could pay for repainting.August 2, 2010 at 6:29 pm #27889JackTrade
Participanthas the “low” seat on it, which is 25.5 inches. Just something of which to be aware..if you’re tall, you’ll find the bike somewhat cramped.

ParticipantThank you, and i have to try to negotiate the price on the honda and yea im 6’1 so i imagine the buell would be kinda cramped. Now lately i found a 2007 Kawasaki Ninja with 900 miles on it for $2,200 or from the same (private) dealer (which i have a hard time believing) has a 1991 Honda CBR 600 with 150,000 miles on it!!!!!! so what do you guys think about that??

ParticipantThe CBR 600 is a lot of bike for a beginner- it is best to ride a slower bike for at least 10,000 miles before getting on a bike with that much horsepower and braking power. Also, at 150,000 miles it is probably ready for an engine rebuild, and the maintenance for everything else on the bike could be a major hassle. Hondas are considered the most reliable bikes for a lower price, and BMWs the most reliable for a higher price.
