Help Choosing a First Dualsport Bike

Hi. I’m 6’2 and weigh 225 pounds. I know how to handle shifting pretty from driving a manual car but I have never really ridden a motorcycle. I would like to purchase a dualsport simply because I love the look of them but all I really need the bike for is commuting from a house off my college campus to class. The ride is mostly uphill, not sure what the grade is, but I am wondering if a 250cc, or even a 200cc, would be enough to get the job done. Over the course of the entire trip the speed limit is 25mph, 30 very briefly. Putting all of these things into consideration does anyone have any suggestions?

a 200 or 250cc engine should be more than enough for that task.

    Any of the 200cc+ bikes.

Seriously, they’ll all do 60mph with you on board.

The only one I would avoid is the TW220 “Big Wheel”. It has what looks like an ATV wheel on the back, and it is really meant as a farm/utility bike. It is not a happy camper above 55mph on the road.

Other than that, go with the one you like best :P

I actually have something that would be perfect for you and I am looking to sell. it is a 2005 Yamaha XT225 dual-purpose and I have loved it. it was my first bike, never laid down, always babied. it is a 225cc engine and is a blast. gets around 70-80mpg and could carry my dad(5’11”, 230) or friend(6’2″, 190) with absolute ease. great for around town at lower speed limits like you specified but no good on the highway. I just want something with more power. suspension makes the roughest bumps feel like a gentle push and handles quicker than my friends ninja 250. just my 2 cents.
