Hey ya’ll!
My name is Annette…My dad has been ridding as far back as i can remember. He owns a Valkrie, and he taught my husband to ride. My husband owns a Sportster. At 35 years old I took the drivers edge course in March of 08, and passed with an 82. I got my first bike in May. I am only 5 foot. We were looking for a Harley. Something that was low enough to the ground, and light enough for me to handle, well we could not find one that made me happy. So we went then to the Suzuki dealership in Wichita Falls, and found a S40. The color was not to much to look at silver, but it was nicely priced. We took the bike home on May 28. It is a 2008 model. I was ridding it almost every day. I was very happy at first (well, for the first 5 months) untill I had to take it in the shop for various issues. To this day I have had 3 exhaust leaks, twice the brake light has been stuck on, we have already changed the front brakes, it back fires when I shift into lower gears and sometimes when I let off the throttle. I took it in for the first exhaust leak and they said it was covered under warrenty. Now, not being a year, they say it is not covered………….What is that all about????? Is it just the dealership that is jerking me around???? I enjoy riding… HAS ANYONE HAD THESE ISSUES WITH THE S40……PLEASE HELP ME……I believe that if the exhaust was not always leaking, I would be very happy with this bike.May 17, 2009 at 10:41 pm #18630MunchParticipantIf it’s been under a year….yea I think it’s their way of saying they have not a clue ( or the training) on how to fix your problem. Refer to your paperwork from when you bought the bike on how long a warranty you have…both mileage and years, it will be one or the other which ever comes first. The back firing could be a by product of the leaking exhaust. Try another dealer and also IF your paper work confirms your suspicions then also try to talk with Suzuki themselves.
