I’m a reentry rider, I had a Honda CB90 in high school. I’ve been wanting to ride for years, after my divorce I was finally free to but it took me 5 years. I’ve been lucking since July after I took the MSF course. After reading this site and and a few others I was convinced to get a 250, so I settled on a pristine 2003 Rebel 250 with 3400 miles on her.
I’ve been riding most days and on weekend I’ve gone on some 100 mile rides with friend so far I’ve done almost 800 miles. I’ve gone from scared to death at 35 to getting on the freeway last week, 70 mph without a problem.
My friend whoose been riding about 3 years really gave me grief about getting such a small bike “too small, you’ll outgrow it quickly, etc.” and I hear that all the time. Last Monday he became a believer, we were having dinner and he said I can’t believe how quickly you are coming along, it took me months before I got out of my neighborhood on Triumph Legend (865 cc).
So if there are any other San Diegan’s out there drop me a line and we’ll do a ride.
