ParticipantAfter going through this website for some time now, I decided to create an account. I took the MSF course on February, so I already have my license. I bought my bike like two weeks ago. Even though, I have read countless post about which bikes are for beginners and which are not, I bought a 02 gsxr 750. I know, I know… but I figured that in the end it is not the bike what causes the crash, but the irresponsible driver. Besides, I believed it was a good deal because it was always driven by an adult. It has only 6,000 miles and the only mod is the exhaust. He gave it to me for 4 grand. I have driven it four times already and today, Thursday, I drove it to work. I haven’t practice that much since I work during night and here in Miami the sun gets hot. Today I figured that it gets pretty hot with all the gear if you are not going at a decent speed. Some coworkers were joking about the amount of gear that I have (I’m just missing pants and some shoes) and how slow I’ve been driving. one of then made a comment that reassure my statement. He said “if I have a bike like that, I’ll show you how crazy I am.” I guess people who try to show off, they end up being a statistic.

ParticipantI am 56, and just caught the bike bug after my second MI. fancy word for heart attack. I’m taking the course over this weekend and the testing next Tuesday. For the past few weeks I have been soaking up everything on bikes and riding. I think I am ready for it, but also know that there is a lesson to be learned with every ride. I am thinking of buying a used bike in the 125-750 range, and pay no more than 2500. Lots on offer from the classifieds and as always I am checking every bit of the written word on each bike. One of my searches landed me on this site and I signed up asap. Lots of good info here for all. I will certainly direct anyone who asks to this site and to be sure to read plenty before they jump into action, unless it is to take a safety course, in which case they can jump in asap. Safe riding to all.
