I am brand new to motorcycling so this site has really helped me figure out how to get started. I’m taking the MSF Basic Rider Course this weekend, have saved up for a big down payment on a 2009 Kawasaki Ninja 250r, which I hope to pick up next week.
Thanks to Ben, the site admin for creating this site, and all the users for posting great comments. I’ll be sure to post pictures after I bring my bike home.

Looking forward to the Ninja pictures. (My grandmother lived in Knoxville, until my grandfather snatched her away and brought her up to Ohio many years ago.)

August 3, 2009 at 1:57 pm #21173JackTradeParticipantThe 250 redesign is amazing…a beginner bike that doens’t look like one. Though it always makes me wonder when the 500 will get the same treatment.
August 3, 2009 at 4:22 pm #21176USViking79ParticipantI took the Basic Rider Course this weekend. It was one of the best things I’ve ever done. I passed written and practical, so I’ll head to the DMV for my “M” rating tomorrow.
Exciting stuff!
August 3, 2009 at 4:48 pm #21178USViking79ParticipantJackTrade,
I agree with your statements regarding the 250 and the 500. While the price difference was a factor in my decision to buy the 250, appearance also played a role. I imagine a new and improved 500 would be hard for the dealerships to keep in stock.
August 3, 2009 at 5:19 pm #21179MunchParticipantFrom the whispers I hear every time I go to the Kawi dealer, don’t be too surprised if the 500 version gets cut. The 250 made a huge showing and they have the 650’s for the next step. Business wise it does not make profitable sense for them to dump money into a redesign of the 500 when you already have a 650. Not to include all the hullaballoo about the emissions standards that are going to be coming down the pike.
