That bike looks mean! An HD sportster isn’t too heavy to start on right? Ha what a good looking bike.

Yea. It looks great! Though I still will wait for a later time in life for the HD , then go for the original Blacked out look on the Street Bob.

the Night train a lot but if I’ve learned anything from this site its that a 250cc is a great idea for a first bike. After I take the MSF course in March I am going to get a ninja 250 but man the Iron made me think twice.

In my opinion a Sportster *is* too heavy for a first bike for most.

Until then I am not closing the case on which bike I will start with. I feel like right now all I have is ideas and research and so after being on a bike and taking the classes I will be much more informed.
I live in Santa Barbara CA, and so with 90,000 people there isn’t any real issue with heavy traffic (until I venture into LA). Im in my last year of college and it is a perfect time to have a bike. I have a lot of time to practice, a lot of nice roads to practice on (and big parking lots), and a whole lot of patience and caution. So if after the class I am really feeling confident then I might consider a “heavy bike” but there’s no chance in hell Ill go near a 600cc sportbike as a first bike.
Why did you pick a Harley or lets say a V-star custom 650?
