So, some of you who have slavishly been reading my posts know that I have been waiting for results from a professional certification exam to come back before I bought a bike. Well, the waiting has not been in vain.
I PASSED!!! WHOO-HOO!!!
(Insert mental image of person who has no concept of rhythm attempting to do a jig)
So, now I am at that point of buying a bike. I’m watching Craig’s list to see if something cheap comes up, otherwise I’m going to wait until Spring (boo-hiss). There isn’t enough left of summer for me to justify dropping good money on something that is going to get used for three weeks and then sit for five months…
But I PASSED!!! My long nightmare has ended!August 19, 2009 at 3:43 am #21782MunchParticipant

Congratulations mate! Hope you find a beaut sooner rather than later…but remember, we need pics when it happensAugust 19, 2009 at 8:07 pm #21796yugen852Participant
Good for you, and I agree with you that if you don’t find something cheap before summer ends, you’ll have to suffer great anxiety till spring comes. But, anyway. Congratssssss!

Congratulations, both on passing and on your resolve in waiting. Where is it you live again? I thought you were in Sequim, WA or was that someone else? I think in WA we have a year round riding climate so I would not wait. I bought my bike at this time last year.August 19, 2009 at 11:40 pm #21798
That was someone else (she was originally from Alaksa, but I haven’t seen her here in a few weeks).
I’m in Alaska. The riding season will probably go on until mid-october or so, but after the first snow (which could happen anytime after Labor Day), I would hesitate to ride, especially as a new rider. Between now and then, the weather will be unpredicatably rainy (sort of Seattle-ish with less fog).August 22, 2009 at 4:41 pm #21884BenParticipant
You can find some GREAT deals on craigslist around december and january. People start selling off bikes to pay for other presents (or for overspending the month before). Just be patient and you will snag an awesome bike for a really good price.

That is kind of what I figured. That and Christmas in October is coming up (It’s an Alaskan thing…). I figure that people will have to sell their bikes to help pay for their new snow machines.
