ParticipantJust signed up, dropped a donation, posted a comment, and figured I would toss my bit of off-colored paint here too. *smile*
I’ve just recently gotten into motorcycling in general, with my first “bike” purchase being a Honda Ruckus back in May 2006, and I am so glad I did. Ended up selling my Jeep (my only other vehicle) in 2007 as I was driving it once every two or three months. In September 2008 I moved up to a V-Star 250. This summer I will likely move up again into the 500-700 cc range.
Anyway, greetings and hello to all, am looking forward to a bit of gabbing in the future.

ParticipantIt was very smart to start with 50cc and slowly work your way up. I started with a minibike with a 3.5 horsepower Briggs & Stratton engine and no brakes, back in 1967. I will probably get my first fast bike next year, to make me feel younger since I am in my 50s, and I can finally afford it.

ParticipantThe 50cc Ruckus was awesome, and I still miss it on occasion (was stolen just after I bought my V-Star). I just wish I had taken the Basic Rider Skills class back then, but hadn’t bothered since riding a small engine scooter like that is legal in Oregon as long as you have a standard driver’s license. Didn’t take the class until I bought the new bike, and suddenly discovered that I was doing EVERYTHING wrong.
Figures. *sigh*
