Howdy everyone, my name’s Austin, and i’m from the Dallas area, been cruis’n the site for a while now and am going to take my M.S.F. course very soon now. Anyhow in a few months, in the blazing August heat i’ll be moving away to college, and was hoping for some pointers toward a motorcycle that could putt around campus without so much ridiculusly too much power, and also handle the 400 mile round-trip to and from home cook’n and my dorm on the highway. I’ve heard nothing but great things about the Ninja 500, the motorcycle I’m currently in favor of, but am still a little worried about it’s ability to drag my 220 lbs. rear around the country of Texas. So, any ideas anyone, all input from ya’ll will weigh heavily on my decision, I trust ya. Thanks a bunch :)

    Welcome to the forum.

I ride a Ninja 650, and I’m about 230 or 240 pounds. It certainly has no trouble with my weight, and I can’t imagine that the 500 would have any trouble either.

Have fun with the MSF, and be safe.

and was recently riding two-up with a total weight between the two of us at about 340 lbs. Up hills, down hills, on the highway at 80 MPH with plenty of room for acceleration…no problems at all.

So I think that something only 150 cc less will be absolutely no problem at all. It should work great for ya… :)
