ParticipantWhen I purchased my GS500f I really thought all I would need for gear was a good helmut and an armored jacket, but then I started doing some research and found this site, luckily before something “bad” happened to me. Over the winter I have been slowly increasing my protective gear thanks to cheap deals at Newenough.com (Multiple kinds of gloves, boots, shin armor, ect…). But I cant get a handle on pants. How much protection VS being able to wear the pants to school and work. I have read a lot and think I mite go with Icon Super Duty 2 or one of the other Icon products. I have also found ArmoredRyder.com They offer a couple of cargo style pants, but no good pictures or reviews. The pants are made in Italy and are reenforced with Kevlar. I am at a total loss. What do you guys wear?

ParticipantI’d go for pants that are either easily taken off, or more discreet ones to keep on all day.
I dont know this for sure, but my guess would be that the material used in the discreet type of pants wouldn’t hold nearly as long on asphalt as ‘real’ gear would.
I’m sure I’ve seen MC pants with zippers all the way down the legs for easy on/off’s
If you still wanna go for the all-day-pants and like jeans, check out draggin’ jeans http://www.dragginjeans.com/
They seem to be of good quality (according to dealers) and are throughly testedFebruary 23, 2008 at 5:54 am #5080AaronMerlot
ParticipantThanks for the help!

ParticipantI’m a big fan of ‘overpants’, and thats what I’ve been using for the past year. They zip all the way up the sides so you can slip them on over your regular pants and your boots. I can take them on or off in about 30 seconds and I usually just stow them in my backpack or my tail bag. If you plan on doing some serious riding in the twisties though, i would definitely recommend some regular leather pants that replace the pants you would normally wear.

ParticipantThe last time I was dragged behind a car was on a piece of card board I could not image testing those jeans like that! That must have been hot!

ParticipantIf it helps at all, I have the FirstGear HT II Textile Overpants. I’ve been very happy with them. They zip all the way up the sides, making them easy to take on and off, and they have a removable liner for when it’s colder out. Overall, they are great, quality overpants.
