Sorry, I just love thier stuff and I’m not a lady…
You need to go to a store that carries their stuff though as their sizes are all in European measurements… They aren’t exactly inexpensive either, FWIW…

*SLAPS SELF!*
Focus, Ben, focus!
Well it really depends on what type of gear you want. Leather or Textile? I have a feeling that textile might be a bit rommier, but leather will be able to break in more. Shift racing has some pretty good gear:

Unfortunately though any type of gear you wear you are going to want to fit somewhat snug so it doesn’t slide around if you are in a crash. Depending on how large your wife’s chest is that might mean she would have to wear a sports bra to smash em down so the jacket fits properly. That’s just a guess though as I am not a woman.

I’ve been thinking about your Dainese pants ever since I saw them! How much were they and are they perforated? I don’t mean to be a gear copy cat, but I think I might have to go pick a pair up soon…

They’re perferated with thigh vents. Good summer riding pants. knee and shin armor as well as hip/buttocks padding included.

I’m 6′ 180pounds. I’m not fat, not even big boned. But I do have fairly large calves and upper legs (part of that whole cyclist thing). But even Dainese’s XL stuff is too small for me. Anything they have that can make it’s way around my calf is way too long for me.
So yea, I’m really curious wheather or not Dainese moto gear actually fits a “normal” north american male.
As for the question at hand, my Mother owns a set of Joe Rocket Alter Ego pants & jacket. She isn’t exactly large (Ben, don’t go there, this is my mother we’re talking about!) but the frilly girly stuff is kept to a minimum. And the Alter Ego stuff is really good in both hot and rain (just not both at the same time).
June 9, 2008 at 1:21 pm #7160megaspazParticipantCan’t vouch for mountain bike gear, but me thinking that I’m a normal north american male at 5′ 10″ and 155 lbs, the dainese moto gear fits mostly perfectly for me. The only thing that doesn’t fit perfectly are the drake air pants I use. I got their smallest waist size pants and it’s still kinda big on me as I only get about a 1/4″ of velcro connecting on both sides if I crank the waist adjusters. Comprimising to getting 1/2″ of velcro connection’s fine with me though even though I’ll have to hike up my pants every once in a while… But yeh, dainese gear isn’t inexpensive though, but I don’t think you need to have the body of an italian athelete either.

I did find something at icon’s website (seeing as how that’s the first website with xl sizes, but I don’t know how usable the jackets are…I’m still wondering if any women can give their input on good jackets. I can find any women’s version of my jacket, I just want to see if someone can tell me from experience of a good jacket. BTW here’s the jacket I’m looking at getting her atm.
June 10, 2008 at 5:43 am #7179six-shooterParticipantMy wife has a similar “problem” (problem for her, not for me with getting things to fit up top but not be too big everywhere else. She just bought the Firstgear Coutour Mesh Jacket in all white and loves it. She bought a large, and it fits her like a glove… room up top, but “countoured” (hence the name) around the waist.
