I need to buy a full set of apparel as a new rider
Helmet, Gloves, Boots, Leather Jacket and Pants.
I may even get some armor as well depending on how they fit and
whether i can wear jackets over them.

Anybody around the Vancouver area who could give me some pointers on where
I can go for cheap prices/good selection?

I can only go by bus, so anywhere too far will be difficult to access.

    NewEnough.com — got my jacket there ($79).

    Leatherup.com — got my boots there ($80).

Motorcyclesuperstore.com — got my helmet and gloves there ($116 and 20, respectively).

Pants have been a bit of a problem though. I got some at New Enough, and they were a pretty good price ($75), but having bought them sight-unseen, turned out they were a bit short (if you’re about 5’6-7″ with a 34″ waist, I’ve got a good deal for you). I bought another pair of A* pants from some one on the SVrider.com site, and they’re long enough, but their 34″ is a bit bigger… So I’m still looking for that “right” fit.

Try it on in a store!

It’ll save a big headache, if something doesn’t fit, and it’ll let you compare the fits of various brands.

I don’t know the vancouver area at all, but I’d try all the big bike dealerships (as opposed to shops that “also sell bikes”), they tend to have a good selection of gear to try on. Also, if you plan on buying a bike (new or used) from a dealership, they’ll usually give you a discount on the gear if you buy it when you buy the bike. The discount tends to be about 15%, so it may still be cheaper to buy online. But there is something to be said for building a relationship with a good dealer.

On what they carry, they tend to have the best price. They’re also cool about returns if stuff doesn’t fit.

I’ve gotten most of my gear from Leatherup.com and have been pretty happy with everything so far.. Would have liked a little more neck room and sleeve length in my jacket.. But it’s a nice snug fit in the body.. May go one size larger next time I buy a jacket though just to see if it’s too loose…
