    Oh yes, I said it.

First time ever on two wheels motorized was on my 2006 Hayabusa. I remember learning how to get into 2nd gear my first day riding and even almost dropping the bike when I clutched in panic during a practice turn. Ate lunch, and 500 some miles later down I5 from Oregon to California I was already doing 185mph with State Troopers behind me. Fortunately, I was let go and stayed the night at a hotel while the snow cleared from Siskiyou Summit.

    That was a pleasant memory.

Since then I’ve taken the MSF and yes I do have my M1. I must say, having learned from the opposite end of the spectrum I would recommend that most all new riders should start on something at or below 600cc’s and if possible I think it would be best to stay away from sport tuned bikes as a beginner.

If you must be stupid awesome like myself. Get a Hayabusa cause everyone knows they look better then a damn ZX14. Be prepared and if you don’t die in your first year you have joined the ranks of crazy awesome.

My only experience with any other bike is a ninja 250 from MSF. My instructors saw my application with first time rider, less then 3 months riding, hayabusa… and immediately offered my the only 250 they had.

The bike was so much fun. Light and nimble. They told me I was a late braker… not that it was bad… it was just my technique I guess lol. See! I’m crazy.

Well, almost two years later now and I’m looking to get a fun track bike since my Hayabusa with straight pipes won’t meet noise limits for track. I heard at MSF that some 250 riders who are skilled can beat a squid on a new 600… this is something I must achieve.

I will be purchasing a 2008 Ninja 250r and install a Yosh slipon.

I just came up with that little pun. A Hayabusa s a ballsy move for a first bike. And by ballsy I mean that your balls are likely to be left on the pavement…glad yours weren’t… :)
