I’m so stoked, I brought my first bike home today, an ’84 Virago 700, from the shop after a 2 week safety check turned into some minor repairs. Glad I had the check done, turns out the fuel petcock(sp?) was not operating correctly. I had stalled her right across from the shop!!! Glad to know it wasn’t ALL operator error.
Took a 10 mile route home today. Got a chance to ride in some low to moderate traffic on a few busy surface streets, a few curved backroad roads and 2 small hills to get home… even had to do a U-turn. White-knuckled it at first, but finally settled down and enjoyed the ride. I was amazed at how much I really had learned from the Begining MSF course, i think it as the best investment I have made thus far. I found myself going through all the acronyms and “keeping my head up” during the ride.
I know I still have a lot to learn, first thing tomorrow, I’m hitting the empty parking lot. Hoping to do my first commute (50 mi round trip) by mid August. Will post pics tomorrow.. Thanks BBM for the awesome support. Looking forward to learning more from the vets here and can’t wait to start adding some meaningful musings of my own.
