I’m a soon to be new rider, and I was wondering kind of equipment people would recommend. Also, would you recommend buying online to save a little cash. Any links to products would help. Thanks. Oh, and keep in mind I’m on a tight budget, but i still don’t want to compromise safety.

I like the Icon Super Duty 2 pants (seem to be cool, lots of vented panels but the weather here has yet to get “hot”) and any Shift jacket (note they tend to run a bit on the small side) I have the Shift Dyer jacket and love it. Please don’t forget the gloves (your first reaction if you fall is to put your hands out. I really like the skin on my palms) and boots or shoes. I have Icon Field Armor Boots, they are kinda clunky but lots of protection! (check out Shift Fuel Street Shoes if you don’t want to get boots). I also ride with Alpine Stars knee and shin armor, just because you never know.
http://www.newenough.com has great prices and the BEST service and ultra fast shipping
http://www.sandhillspowersports.com has really cheep prices but service and shipping are, well, ok
I have used both companies and I really like NE
Let me know if I can help any more

Nylon anything is way cheaper than leather. Although leather is sexy.

remember leather is much much better than anything else- usually- in a crash- jeans will open up at 4 feet and other fabrics last a bit longer- leather will protect and with perforated there is little reason not to go that direction,
new issue of bike mags have reviews as well and think newenough and motorcylce superstore for more reviews, comments and sizing plus closeouts!

I also remember hearing leather can be reused and repaired while mesh is a one time thing only. For the jacket, I do leather and the pants I just go with mesh. I don’t go with leather pants due to the image of Ross on friends making a paste in his leather pants trying to get them off one hot summer day… >.< —
