hey everybody, i found this forum today and want to find some colorado riders. I bought my bike in august and it is a gs500. It is a ’95 and had under 1k miles on it. Thought it was a stellar buy but ive had alot of problems with the engine or fuel system. But if i let it warm up and keep in city limits, it runs comfortably. Also i repainted it during the week that i was taking my MSF riding course. not a bad job with spray paint and the paint is still in great condition except about the knee area where there was alot of rubbing. Will do touch ups in spring. Also in the spring im thinking about installing drag bars, grips, mirrors, pegs and maybe blinkers. Also hoping to take it to a suzuki dealership and have them do a full check up on it.

Being in Colorado I could see it being a possible issue with run ability if the bike is Carb’d. Would definitely take it to a professional and see what they can do or telly ou as far as adjustment needs for the various altitudes and atmospheres I can only dream you get the pleasure of riding through.
As far as the paint goes., after you do the touch ups one suggestion I would make is to also get you a clear coat over top of it. Wether its professionally done or by rattle can it will extend your paint a lot longer.January 8, 2010 at 11:44 pm #23945SantaCruzRiderParticipantBut I’ve heard of folks having some pretty spectacular results from running some cleaner through the tank and carbs. Since it’s running, you’re probably pretty close and may get off with a relatively cheap synch and tune.
Does it strike you at all as odd that such a low mileage bike has the paint worn off at the rider’s knees? Do you think it was from a cover rubbing or was the PO a fantasy rider who spent hours sitting on the bike in his garage while he pretended to cruise the open road? You don’t think it’s just a new speedo do you?

I will post a formal introduction of my own, but wanted to say Hi. I recently took the MSF course myself in September. I purchased an ’07 Triumph Bonneville end of November. I have been riding it as much as I can when weather permits, but no problems with the carbs at altitude. SCR may be on to something with cleaning the carbs though. An acquaintance was having some issues with a used bike he had purchased. It had been sitting for awhile. He rand 3 or so tanks through with SeaFoam added and the poor running seems to have resolved itself.
