    so…
every time another streetbike rides around me i realize how much better they all sound than the moped on steroids sound that my gs500f makes.

im thinking the best way to change how the bike sounds is the exhaust (i could be wrong)

if so, will just a slip on dramatically change the way the bike sounds?

or is there something cheaper that can be done?

    thanks in advance

im going to buy a slip on for my gs500f and it will makes more power for the bike and change the sound. You have to buy a slip on made for the bike so look around. Also you have to get a dealer to put it on. Its not cheap but it can give you a %10 increase in power. I have to buy one because i cant sell my bike with the scratched one i have on it.

it really didn’t look like my 07 gs500f could go with just a slip on. by the looks of it, a full system would be required and a rejet???

Yoshimura makes probably the best slip on for the GS regarding sound and power, although not the cheapest. Adding a slip on does not require a rejet, but it is recommended (even on a stock bike). Jardine makes a full system for a pretty good price.
If you you want more power, add a k&n lunchbox and rejet the carbs. Check out gstwins forum, it’s got all the info you need.
    There’s also a GS500wiki.
