Leaving work today I decided to wear my mesh pants without my normal pants on the inside as it was a pretty warm day. I also had my lunch bag. I put my wallet and my cell phone in my lunch bag (so they wouldn’t fall out of my pants), wrapped my brand new pants around the lunch bag, and bungeed the whole thing to the bike. So I am riding down the interstate and I feel like something is missing. I reach back and grab the bundle as it is sliding off of the bike with my left hand. I don’t have any kind of grip on the bundle and don’t want to risk dropping any of it by pulling it up in my lap. I realize that in this position I can’t use my clutch or my blinkers. I am in the fourth lane of traffic with no real shoulder on the left. My only option is to cross three lanes of traffic with one hand tied behind my back without indicators. I manage to do so without dropping the bundle, getting killed, or stalling the bike.

Once stopped I realize that I only have the bundle and the bungee is nowhere to be seen. I think I see something that might be it but it was a work glove. I have no idea what caused the fail. Maybe I didn’t tighten it down far enough to give proper tension. Maybe one of the knots slipped loose. I have no idea. If I see the bungee on the way home TM, maybe I will stop and pick it up.

I came away with everything okay but missing a $5 bungee net. Gives me an excuse to get the rough tote and bolt it on.
