I am thing of buying a Kawasaki Vulcan 500 LTD. I have ridden a scooter, but never a motorcycle. Is this motorcycle a good choice? I don’t want a 250 because I’ll want a bigger one in a year or two. I want one that will fit me for years. I live in Newfoundland and I plan on touring the island with my biker friends, so I need one that’s comfortable for long rides. I’d appreciate any input.

have you sat on it? are you comfortable tipping the bike side to side a bit? if it’s comfortable to you go for it.

I had only been a passanger on a bike until I took the MSF course on a 250 Rebel. I bought a Vulcan 500 on July 10 2008. You will be able to keep up with your friends. I have nothing to compare it to but I don’t need to. I am short (5’5″) and 165 lbs and this bike is great to me. I can flat foot, it feels light (felt a little heavy at forst since I learned on a Rebel) and the MPG is great. I kinda thought it might have been better to get a sport bike for leaning into the wind but with the addition of a small windshield it all works just fine. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

    Keep Rockin!

After reading the reviews on this site it seems a lot of praise for the Vulcan 500. From what I am gathering it is a cheap, powerful sharp looking bike. I still have to actually go out and sit on one to get a feel for it, but this might just be the one for me.
