Bike…almost purchased

So I’ve pretty much purchased my first bike after completing my MSF course 2 weekends ago. I’m getting a blue 2007 Kawasaki ninja 650r. The bike is a demo, so it only has 1000km on it and still comes with the full manufacturers warranty. I’m going to sign the paperwork tomorrow and hopefully pick her up on Saturday morning….giving me time to ride all day long!

Gear wise, I’ve got my boots already, and I am looking at the Shoei Gobert blue helm to match the bike. I also really like one of the Teknic leather jackets at a local dealer although the sales person says it is to big for me, the sides have some baggyness. I’ll probably be picking up my gear tomorrow or Friday night!

I am admittedly nervous. I will be picking the bike up and I will have to drive it home, which is why I want to do it early Saturday morning. Seeing as how I have only driven in a parking lot at my MSF course I am quite nervous. I’m going to be taking as many back roads as possible, and I believe my dad is going to be driving ahead of me so he can keep an eye out and be my personal flag car.

I want to give a special thanks to Matt here on the forums. He really helped me put things into perspective when looking at bikes by giving me a few very smart words of wisdom.

The nervousness goes away quickly. I had my wife follow me home and she said I was driving like a grandma. Your confidence will grow every time you go for a ride. Just take your time and be safe. Oh yeah, have fun too. Hope that 650 works out for ya.
