With so many gloves being on the market, its tough to know which offer the best protection just by reading up on them, therefore I would appreciate any suggestions by you readers who have had first hand experience. If the gloves were also waterproof, that would also be a plus, however I don’t want to sacrifice protection for the waterproof feature. As far as handling the cold weather, I intend to get some Gerbing electrically heated gloves liners. By the way, I am a street rider ( asphalt and concrete).

I’d give that site a look. Check out the reviews over there.

These are some things I like in a glove:

    1. Hard Knuckles.
    2. Gauntlet style.
    3. Wrist strap as well as end of gauntlet closure (stops them coming off in a crash).

If you want the absolute most protective waterproof gloves on the market then look into Alpinestars or Knox. If you’re willing to sacrifice waterproofing your options are much wider. But Gauntlet style, dual velcro strapping, and hard knuckle protection are all musts as Rab pointed out. I use the new 2010 Teknic Lightnings which are AWESOME!

These gloves are considered some of the most protective available:
