Apparently I’m better than I give myself credit for–My day as a semi-squid.

While riding home yesterday on my SV650, I ran into a guy on an R6 and a guy on a GSXR who were rather squidly. Aside from their helmets (thank god they at least had those considering this state has no helmet law) they were completely devoid of gear. T-shirts, shorts, and sneakers.
For shits and giggles and because I knew the road we were on (I go down it on my commute home everyday) I decided to try to keep up with them as they were weaving in an out of traffic (something I normally don’t do) going through Pittsburgh’s strip and, I’m going to be honest, I found myself doing a lot of things to keep up with them that I never really did before because I felt uncomfortable and unsafe doing them. Despite that, everything turned out fine and I impressed myself by pushing myself to do things outside of my comfort zone.
Also, on another note, while riding to work yesterday morning I pulled up at a stoplight next to an attractive blonde driving a Honda Accord. She was checking me out the whole time we were at the stoplight. Was coolJune 9, 2010 at 4:20 pm #26944owlieParticipant
Congrats on getting checked out. Especially given your progress and committment to slimming down, that must feel especially fantastic.June 9, 2010 at 4:25 pm #26945WeaponZeroParticipant
Thanks it did feel great. I’m down to 257 lbs now so 78 lbs down!June 9, 2010 at 5:36 pm #26946Gary856Participant
But you were AGATT so you were still nowhere near the no-guts-no-glory level of those squids. lol.
Seriously, don’t confuse lack of judgment and lack of maturity with skills. Weaving in and out of traffic is a stupid high risk behavior, but it doesn’t take much skills. Most squids have very little skills and many pay a high price for what they do.June 9, 2010 at 8:43 pm #26954eonParticipant
LOL…did you hit your head in that fall and become a semi-sqid
I agree with Gary, weaving in and out of traffic is a high risk game and does not have a lot to do with skill. I have to confess I occasionally have to restrain myself from agressive overtakes as in the UK they are normal and car drivers will let you merge back in. Here I think I would get run off the road at the first attempt.June 10, 2010 at 10:49 pm #26977eternal05Participant
That’s great, Weapon. Glad to hear you’re having continued success.
