AMA membership and insurance discount

A follow up on a previous thread somewhere on this site.

You should be able to get an added discount from AMA membership on top of any other discounts from your insurance company. I can only vouche for my insurance company, Nationwide. Nationwide stacks discounts up to 35%. The AMA membership netted an extra 10% savings along with multiple vehicle, MSF, and home renter’s policy.

I opted for the lifetime membership, but I can tell you with Nationwide, it was an honor thing. I didn’t need to actually sign up for AMA as they didn’t ask for an AMA membership number. I asked them about this, and the lady said, we trust you. Not saying you should do this as the AMA does do some great work for motorcyclist rights and most other motorcycle places around here will give discounts for AMA membership… At least do a one year membership, not that I care whether or not you’re completely honest with your insurance company. ;-)

They will give discounts only if they are on the Corporate Partners List – which Nationwide is one of them.

I guess one can try to call their personal insurance provider and ask anyways….

…from Safeco for AMA membership. Also additional discounts for MSF course completion, multiple vehicles, etc.

Thanks for the tip. I’m going to call Geico tomorrow and see if my AMA membership adds any extra discount to my insurance rate.

I just found out that my local Kawi dealer gives a 5% discount on their supplies (helmets, clothes, accessories, etc.) for AMA members. It’s probably always worthwhile to check.
