I unzip my jacket from my pants and put it where ever there’s an empty place, chair, table, etc. When I’m walking around, i just wear it. not the answer you’re looking for, but… :-P

Oooooohh! Your jacket! Got it! ;-} BTW – I just remembered where you got your tag line… Hitchhiker’s Guide was fun. They should remake the old TV series.

I have just resigned myself to using a car for carrying stuff, or for when I have to dress in anything other than casual. A seat bag doesn’t hold that much. One day, when I can handle a heavier bike, I hope to have one for fun, and a sport tourer with panniers for serious trips, or for errands. Then I’ll have a place to put stuff when I need to.

To me, for now, a motorcycle is for pleasure, but it won’t replace my car for serious transportation.

Speaking of jackets. Whats a good jacket that allows me to be really warm/dry in the winter and rain but also lets me breath in the summer? I need a jacket to do it all, and do it all perfect.

I don’t think there is one jacket that’s perfect for all weather but the Olympia Motosports “Mech Tech 3-in-one” gear is pretty versatile. I carried a PVC rain jacket and pants too though when it was my only jacket. See the review of the Airglide jacket on the BBM home page.

Jackets that are good in the rain are generally not good in the heat and vice-versa.

I’d suggest something like the Airglide for hot and moderate/cool weather riding, plus a waterproof exterior touring jacket for the cold and rainy months. You can get close-out clothing really cheap if you shop carefully.

The problem here in California when on a day trip in the Summer is that it’s too hot to walk around with your gear on, so what I do is run a thin plastic covered steel cable through the bike frame or whatever, and through a jacket arm and pant leg thus I can lock the over-clothes to the bike. Snug it all down with a bungee net to stop them from falling off. ‘ Never had anything stolen yet (knock on wood!).

J.C. Whitney sells a 15′ cable which is just about the right size for two sets of gear (rider and passenger); a 6′ cable will probably work for a solo rider. You can lock the looped ends together with a padlock. Get a helmet lock for your helmet, then you only have your gloves to worry about. They’ll probably be okay secreted in your full face helmet, or you can carry them in a tank bag carried over your shoulder (like the Cortech mini tank bag which comes with a handle and a shoulder strap).

I bought a big bike lock from Walmart http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5750641 loop it through the arms of my jacket and through the body of my bike and drape my jacket over my seat.

Perfect jacket for all weather and conditions? Not happening. For what it’s worth, I’m very happy with my jacket, which handles hot weather and rain well. With its zip in and out liner It should also handle chillier temps, but I haven’t had the misfortune of testing it in those conditions yet.
