I rode out to see the Seca within 2 hrs. of the add being posted, I had $500 cash with me, asking price was $750. I pointed out it needs tires, broken front brake lever, sign of rust in tank, worn suspension, missing fasteners on the front fairing, etc.. and the kid selling the bike actually felt bad about neglecting the bike.. but since he already got his GSXR’whatnot, he just wanted cash in his pocket..
Kid told me others have called to see the bike but couldn’t make it out to see the bike until the weekend.. sometimes we get better deals when act fast, I wouldn’t feel bad walk away if he didn’t accept my offer though.
I replaced the broken front brake lever this evening.. rode it around the neighborhood for a bit.. took off the front fairiings to investigate the buzzing noise, discovered that I’m missing a piece of plastic between the windshield and speedo instrument.. I’ll need some weather strip foam to seal up the gap.. hopefully eliminate the buzzing noise.

Front fairing is off the bike, sourcing some parts/fasteners and fixing a crack.

Personally as far as my bike goes… a GPS will not be an accessory. To much I gotta watch as it is. Don’t have time to figure out which buttons I need to hit at last minute, or wether I passed the turn the lil graphic told me I should have…. I barely look at the speedo as it is… which on your set up would be a good thing cuase I think you have it slightly obstructed.July 4, 2009 at 3:38 am #20410AParticipantI have been using the same GPS model on motos since 2001, on dozens of different motos, I am beyond familiar with my GPS unit.
The best location for a GPS unit on a moto is within the sightline of forward traffic.. say right above the speedo/tach of the moto, because the less distance your eyes have to veer off the forward traffic, the more time you have to react to changes.
Besides the regular GPS functions, I often use the GPS to determine the entry speed to the next corner in unfamiliar terretory. GPS unit gives me more accurate speed than the speedo anyway, I often block the speedo with the GPS.
I don’t usually use the GPS to give me directions, most of the time I use the GPS to find out the general direction of my destination and head towards the destination according to my own choosing of roads. only after I get lost that I use the GPS for directon to get to my destination. I never listen/hear anything the GPS unit sounds off, bluetooth is unnecessary IMO..
July 4, 2009 at 10:29 pm #20418eonParticipantI’ve just invested in my first ever GPS unit. Decided it was necessary to help me find my way around the little back roads that are so much fun to ride after I left one small town, rode for 20 miles and ended up back where I started. Confused the hell out of me when I saw 2 guys painting a fence and thought, “that’s weird, they look like the 2 guys I saw 20 miles back???”.
