    at BikeWorld in Sunnyvale, Ca.

So if you’re in Northern California and still looking for 2008 Ninja250, this place has 2 blue ones in stock.

I went to these guys about 3 months ago asking about the 250R, and they told me they were no longer a Kawasaki dealership (even though they had a huge kawasaki sign outside…) and that they wouldn’t be selling 250Rs. At that time, they had no kawasaki bikes on the premises…

I am not sure what exactly happened, and I have heard plenty of other good things about this dealership, but them telling me that and then selling 250Rs a few months later makes me wonder…

i took my bike to redwood city for service instead of bike world because I assumed they weren’t touching kawis anymore… 10 miles away instead of 0.5miles… that is annoying!

What happened was they had an owner split. They called Kawasaki to tell them to pickup their ’05/’06 stock and Kawasaki mistakenly thought that they didn’t want to be Kawasaki dealers. So yeh, they aren’t official Kawa dealers at the moment. They do order the 250’s though and at the end of this “season”, they’ll become an official Kawa dealer again so they can get the ’09 stock before the next riding season.

    Edit:

and actually going 10 miles is better for your bike than .5 miles… going only .5 mile rides does nasty things to your engine oil.

    Edit Edit:

They still service Kawasaki bikes, as far as I know. I was there last month getting my first mods installed and a guy came in to get his Ninja250 serviced.

thanks for the update – glad to hear they are getting their kawisaki dealership credentials back…

i understand that 0.5 miles is not great for the engine oil, but it was really hard to find someone to drive me out to redwood city (most live in san jose)… and drive me out there twice :P

btw, I haven’t heard anything more about a bbm meetup this weekend, but I was thinking of hitting up the BARF meetup sunday at MDK in redwood city (noon to 5)…

edit: is there an actual distance below which a ride is ‘too short’ and likely to hurt the oil? like 1 mile, 5 miles, 10 miles?

Well, Ben and I both work @ teh goog in mt. view. He’s stated elsewhere he works saturdays til about 4pm. Whoever wants to meet up, we could just meet up at the main google campus buildings around 4pm. Ben? :-P

as far as minimum ride goes, I’m actually not sure. I’ve heard some distance after your engine’s good and hot. From what I’ve also heard, under 2 miles is not enough distance/time.

I found a dealership that is expecting some of them in September. The woman said that she has no deposits so far and I’d have pick of whatever color I want when they come in. I get home in less than 3 weeks and I’ll be heading right down to leave my deposit, I think.

Jiriki got the blue one and it looks pretty slick. I myself prefer kawa green for ninjas, but the redesign of the ’08 ninja 250 rocks.

I never intend on getting red cars but, 4 out of 5 cars I’ve owned have been red. So, I’m throwing in the towel and just looking for red, now. The wife drives a blue SUV so, my bike has to match my little Neon. LOL. yes, I love my neon, 5 speed. :)

problem with kawi green is that I didn’t see options for gear that matches the bike that isn’t black…. unless you want to buy the official stuff…

and the blue matches my wrx… so I was partial to that…
