I purchased a 2001 KTM 520 EXC from my brother who had it registered and rode it daily but replaced it for himself with a GSXR 1100. He’d given the KTM a bit of a flogging so I put it in the shop and had the top end rebuilt and a service etc. Because my brother put the bike down, the kickstarter is currently missing and the bike has to be started by the electric start every time. I put in a new battery when I had the work done, but when I go to start the bike it only turns over a few times.If I’m not ‘on the ball’ it won’t start and I’ve drained the battery. I’m 16 and I haven’t had much experience with motorbikes.Is this normal? It’s really hard to roll start the bike but that’s what I’m having to do. Any advice would be great.
