Thanks guys – very useful information. I have bene out riding my bike as much as I can and I am getting better at it all the time. I do think some time in a parking lot is a good idea as well – I remeber the very fun figure 8 that we did on the basic course. Also, I don’t suppose spring is too long to wait anyway, as it will give me plenty of time to get miles under my belt and all will be well as long as I take it easy, which is what I plan to do anyway.
boulevardboyParticipantHi there. I have also got a 2007 Boulevard s40 and I have read on a few forums that the backfiring is a problem that is associated with not only the Boulevard but other bikes as well. Someone informed me that it was something to do with e required modification by the EPA that gets rid of unburnt fule, or something like that. Apart from being an annoying loud noise I don’t think it relates to anything being actually wrong with the bike.
How do you like the bike other than that though? I love mine and I am so happy that I managed to trade up to it.
boulevardboyParticipantThanks for the welcome, and the weather is not too rainy for me over here either!
Braking with my foot did take a little getting used to I have to say. I also want to keep holding the bike steady at a stop on an incline with my left hand, until I remember that it is the clutch!
I managed to go out for an hour long ride today while the turkey was roasting, which was brilliant. I had it up to about 70mph on a stretch of the 522 and that was so cool. Enough speed for right now though and I am still not ready for the freeway when there are more than about 2 other cars out there with me!
