Be sure to turn the switch back to the “on” position after you get it started or you can do damage to the engine.
Under the seat is 2 hooks, one on each side of the bike. All you have to do is put the metal “D” loop from your helmet on the hook and then close the seat. The helmet is locked to the bike. As far as the rest of your gear goes you will get used to always having a backpack with you. In some cases you can lock your jacket and pants to the bike using a chain and a lock(the kind you used to lock up your ten speed/mountain bike back in the day) running through the sleeves and/or legs and locking that to the bike. Great to see you are gearing up!!! ATGATT !! ( =All The Gear All The Time) We have a lot to worry about out there!

Basically, the bottom part of your gas tank is your reserve. If you think of the fuel line like a straw, when the fuel level goes below the top of straw it can no longer draw gas. Switching the selector to reserve allows fuel to be drawn in further down the straw.

Can you show me a picture of the helmet lock thing on the bike? Also is it better or easyer on the bike if when i shift i always pull in the clutch? When i ride i do let off the gas to shift but the bike kinda feels like it doesnt like that, but when i clutch shift its also tricky cause i have to find my rpm. Is one better then the other?
August 4, 2008 at 6:33 pm #9880ShannonGParticipantUsing your clutch is easier on your gearbox. Smooth shifts are something that will come with practice. I find on my GS500f that shifting at 6000-6500 rpm or higher makes for a nice smooth shift. Any less and it’s a little jerky.

Still trying to find that place to hook my helmet up to though.

I dnt want you to look at roadrash marks all your life, you ye? that is what i do… but i am glad I did not crash on a 500cc though i was doing 70mph. and better take your helm with you.. my advice… now you see…

Even non-motorcycle leather will offer you decent protection. You could probably even find leather pants on the cheap! And you can throw a costume party and dress up as a Village Person when you’re done with it.
August 6, 2008 at 5:01 am #9976AaronMerlotParticipantI found this picture, but let me see if i can get a better one on my bike in a couple of days.
As for gear it is so very important to protect your self!

I thought about this one but I just think id like something a bit “brighter or more standout than Black..but if I get the Green Kawasaki..guess that may stand out pretty well all by itself
August 7, 2008 at 4:07 am #10014LokiParticipantI got all the gear i REALLY need. Im just going to get more/better gear soon. I thought i told you guys i had some gear including a leather jacket.
To AaronMerlot : i found the hooks right after i made my last post asking about it. So you dont need to get a better picture.
Does anyone know where i can get a repair book for 2007 suzuki’s. They have 1980 to 2006 but not 2007. I would like to know when i should do basic things like change the oil or change the air fitler. When to get the carbs cleaned and so on.
