Yay!
I finally found one! I had posted a ways back when the part 1 review came out. Since then I had my deposit for my bike mean absolutely nothing to the dealership when they sold it out from under me…twice! So I took my $2k back and sat on it what seemed like forever.
Monday morning I found a post on Craigslist for a black 08 250 with 103 miles on it…buyers remorse anyone?
I inquired about it on Monday and had it delivered [in a minivan of all things] on Tuesday for $3900. [Dealers here have since risen the price to $4800-$5300 OTD w/ $300 in “free” acc.]. Was able to easily lift it about 2 feet off the ground with me and the original owner.
As soon as I get the title I’ll get it registered and insured and be able to finally drive out of the parking lot!
I would like to say thanks to Ben and all those others who had instilled in my mind a 250 is the perfect bike size to start on and this bike is absolutely a perfect fit for me. I can sit comfortably with my feet flat on the ground and when riding it felt comfortable with no strain on my back what so ever [yes yes a longer ride would of course change that I know!].
While running through the practices from the book with a buddy of mine 4 or 5 other riders from my apartment complex came over to say hey and grats on the new bike. One asked, “I started out on a 650 as well. Is that the new 08 650?”. When I said it was the 250 all were shocked. It looked exactly like their R6’s, ZX-6’s and GSXR’s!
Hardest thing I can say for me right now just starting out is clutch and throttle control. I feel more comfortable when I lift my legs off the ground to start off from 1st. Hopefully I can get in the motorcycle training program. Around me it is back up quite a few months time…my permit is about to expire I need a license stat!
