Hey you biker junkies
New to the cycle world..
looking to get started was thinking about buying a hyosung gt250r or ninja 250...
only real question for me is...i am a complete newb in motorcycles...so im worried about droppin the bike.. and i wanna know where to go really..buy a new bike and jus abuse it until i master it or buy a used bike which is also close in price range and do the same thing?

Take the MSF course, you can
Take the MSF course, you can drop all the bikes you want (at least until the evaluation)!!! And they're not even your bike!

Actually, a lady got sent home in our class for dropping the bike twice... You're probably fine dropping their bike once, but more than that...

LMAO- Poor lady
I dropped my bike three times during the MSF, not on purpose of course. I had never riding any motorized bikes or anything with a clutch. Boy, I had some fun, i tellz ya.
The one i recall was:
Full-lock to the right and go, that one got me... I dumped the clutch then the bike lol.
Even me having driven a
Even me having driven a manual transmission car for 8 years, I stalled the bike more than a few times... heh heh. Luckily, I wasn't the only one in the class that did that.
But I did feel bad for that lady though. She definately didn't mean to drop the bike, but at the same time, I didn't feel completely safe following her or having her behind me during the drills either.

MSF
Didn't drop it but, I really thought the MSF class was going to be easy. Holly $%^& was I wrong. I had to do some practicing the day before the final exam. I am still working on the figure 8. We did have 3 people out of a class of 12 not pass. One guy never showed up after the first day, he had so much trouble with the clutch. He looked and talked like he had been riding HDs all his life(you know the kind of guy I am talking about). Turns out he just wanted to look the part. The old guy (he was in his early 70's) was scary to be close to, and the worst thing was, he kept telling all of us how good of a pilot he was. No way in HELL would I get in a plain with him or even a car, he was that bad. Then there was the girl who all week long kept telling us how after the exam she was getting her license and then going to pick up her brand new CBR 1000 . Well she did not pass a single test!! I am so happy that she did not pass because she would just help raise my insurance rates!
I think the saddest thing
I think the saddest thing about that girl if she had passed and got her license is that most dealers would sell her that litre bike...

No Doubt
If we had tiered licensing in this country like they do in Europe then that wouldn't happen. I have to say, though, that I'm conflicted about that. If we had that kind of licensing here in the states I wouldn't have been able to buy my s40 legally and certainly wouldn't be able to be on my s50 now. I feel very comfortable with my riding abilities but I guess laws are made for the majority.
